I am a creative that has focused on digital for the last 15 years. I started when Macromedia was new and Visual Basic 4 was hot. I taught myself the ropes, studied Computer Science in college (dropped out) and ended up getting a degree in design. Luckily, the internet came along, and my passion for the web was born. I have been combineing my interests in design and technology since day one of my career and I don't intend to do anything different in the future.

Today I heard an awesome talk about engagement on the 2nd screen. Commercials are becoming viable again and we are not talking about the crazy multi million dollar 30 second thing. We are talking about a low dollar CPM on specific network TV. With tons of people using iPads and phones while they watch TV these commercials are becoming larger traffic drivers than some online campaigns. Its an interesting trend and I’m betting it will continue.

You’re cool and then you’re uncool. Don’t believe your own press. You have to be a believer and what you’re doing a daily basis. What other people say doesn’t matter in the short-term it’s what you look back on your work and see that matters.

It’s too easy to easy to get caught up in the act of advertising and not think like an advertiser. Short story is don’t look at what you have to create with grand plans. Think small and manipulate things to be done fast but Great. They can both exist together.
Recently we made a large switch in technology that will allow us to move 10x the speed we were. It’s not as sexy as before but that is all a relative function. Take the steps to move things along fast, not elegantly with your tech.

There are some people that have the gift of sales. There are some that can make code sing. There are some that can see it creatively happen before others. I’m constantly amazed by people and the perceptions they have about how they work. It comes down to how they think and how they act and how they feel they should be treated. Anyways… it is sometimes very cool to see the different personalities that exist inside a business and how they affect what we all do together. Having been in one company that was two different companies and is now one its cool to see the affect. Sorry to get deep.

This is both weird and awesome. It is a cross over between art, instruction and technology gone awesome.

Pretty sure I have a decent link for anyone that has ever wanted to direct your Facebook business page users to another tab once they “like” your page. In searching for the process I cam across a pretty good article on http://www.hyperarts.com. It points everything out pretty well and even steps you through the process. From my initial test everything is working and looks to be the right way to go unless you want to buy a system from someone else.

I was just reading through CNBC.com and found an interesting article on the ten most hated jobs. As I was clicking through each job I found myself saying “Crap. I do 5 or 6 of these on a weekly basis but I don’t even remotely hate my job.” I think this article goes to show how hard/stressful being in the digital advertising industry can become. We have to be a lot of things for a lot of people. It also shows that if we do “it” right we have a lot to offer and lot to be thankful for. I guess each job on their own has its downside but what position doesn’t. We are in an industry that is redefining itself on a weekly basis. Just a simple thought from what was probably meant to be a traffic driving article for an big site.
